For a country as small as Chile, it's surprising that it got to have a very diverse set of seasons. They aren't just ordinary seasons. They are seasons of extreme nature found only in very large countries or in different countries set in the globe. Fortunately, Chile, being the longest country in the world, does not have to be either of those to have the best of both worlds.
On one hand, you have the snow-capped mountains of the Andes peaking high above the clouds. During South America's winter months, Chile is pretty famous among tourists as a possible ski destination when everybody else up north are enjoying the beaches of the hot summer season. Of course other skiing destinations in Argentina are more popular, but they are cheaper here. Then on the other, you have the driest desert in the world, the Atacama Desert. It isn't exactly hot here. It's just dry, not hanks to the rain shadows in that part of the continent. This desert is sparsely populated, with most of the cities located along the Pacific coasts. It isn't really surprising because most of the world's cities are built by large bodies of water. Then there's the rainforests of Chile, which are all located near the Andes mountain ranges. A large-scale conservation effort has been established in the country's national park system. Hopefully it pays off so that we could protect more of Chile's biodiverse lifestyle. It's amazing that you get all of these kinds of landscapes in a single country. It seems that Chile may pass a world within the world. So what are you here in Chile for?
